2018 Ram 2500 forward collision avoidance problems

This recall has been in effect for almost two years. I have been affected for the past year with almost constant warning alarms distracting my attention to drive. The Chrysler Mechanic did diagnose that my ABS system has failed but t hat a remedy was, and still is not available. In the meantime I rarely my 2500 RAM Diesel because I have no ABS, cruise control or the ability to disable the traction control. The mechanic was not able to turn the alarm off and turning up the radio is not a safe option either. I drive many highway miles and often transport my Grandchildren to and fro. The latter is the reason I bought a heavy duty vehicle for safety. Due to the weight of my truck, without cruise control it is challenging to maintain consistent speeds on the highways and I am a nuisance to most drivers which has caused more than one bad reaction from other drivers. Not to mention the loss of 3 to 4 MPG of diesel. Recently my second vehicle is getting repairs and I am having to use my RAM exclusively. The recall center agreed that I have safety issues with my vehicle and offered me a rental, but after providing the requested information downloaded from the truck by the certified mechanic, I was told that more information was needed. This took place over a period of approximately two weeks where I surrendered my truck to their unsecured lot. At that time I retrieved my truck and concluded that this was a cat and mouse chase. So now I am once again driving my unsafe truck looking at navigating Indiana winter roads. Over six months ago I was the assured that the replacement part was in the final stages of testing and this is the same story today.

A failing HCU will initially result in the intermittent loss of ABS/Traction control progressing to permanent loss. My vehicle has an open safety recall (24V896000) with no available remedy for over a year. I'm not sure why you guys aren't seeing it. The ABS warning light is illuminated, indicating a failure of a critical safety system. I reside in [XXX] where annual safety inspections are required and that date is now here. Despite the defect, the vehicle was passed by a Dodge dealership knowing the ABS system is not functioning properly as there isn't a fix. The manufacturer, Stellantis, has no repair available and no timeline and I've only gotten the run around from their recall department and corporate. I am being forced to operate a vehicle with a known safety defect or not use it at all. This situation leaves consumers without a remedy for a federally recognized safety issue. No incident has happened yet but I don’t want an incident to happen to get this fixed. The HCU and ABS are not working properly or at all I’m not too sure. The sensors on the truck don’t work. The 4x4 don’t work either. The cruise control doesn’t work either. I need my truck fixed asap.

Was towing with my 2018 Ram 2500 ... truck ABS failed to engage under emergency stopping narrowly missing stopped car in front of me... truck took substantially longer to stop and brakes locked up... There is an outstanding recall on this but RAM says parts are not available... there appear to be in excess of 317,000 large heavy duty Ram trucks on the road, probably most towing heavy loads, with failing ABS and Hydraulic Control Units (HCU). At what point will Ram be made to actually fix the problem and make parts available to their service dealers versus just ignoring the issue??? Now the truck has permanent ABS light on but no parts from Ram to fix???

I am in Virginia and received a recall code C0020-01 for general abs fault. The truck continues to beep alerting me of this fact. I need replacement of the hcu. Which i have been told controls the breaking hydraulics. To me this seems to be of concern and could easily cause an accident and injury. This has been occurring since August of 2025 and I have been in contact with the dealership, Blackwell of Danville, VA, since then. On 11/1/25 I went into the dealership for other issues but this problem as well. They told me there is no part available for replacement and hasn't been for over a year. Well we are in a new year so how much longer do I need to wait for my truck to be safe?

ABS and Electronic Braking System. I have not been able to use cruise control because this problem with my brakes also disabled my cruise control. I worry about my brakes failing. The part(s) needed to repair this have not been made available so I've been advised to not have it serviced until repair parts can be made available. I have had warning lamps light up on the dash since December of 2022. It's been over three years and RAM is not handling this in a timely fashion. I'm concerned about my brakes failing.

Stellantis and RAM companies have had Manufacturer Recall NumberC4B NHTSA Recall Number24V-896 Recall Status: Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available This has been well over a year and I have lost the use of my Truck for loading my Truck Camper for the entire year due to their lack of resources allocated to fix this issue. I have had the Traction control light /ABS Service light associated with the HCU electric pump motor fail on this recall since June of 2024 and it is due to defective parts that do not last as this was the second HCU/Electric pump motor in the truck from the Manufacturer and installed serviced by my local RAM dealer dealer( first one failed at 11,500 miles approximately. my truck has 23,000 miles on it currently as and when the repair part(s) come into stock, it will be the 3rd unit installed. This time on waiting for upgraded parts to be installed under the Recall/Warranty is unacceptable and is not "TIMELY" at all. Additionally if this light comes on during driving with cruise control on it will shut off cruise control and can cause an accident from the deceleration.

I have a 2018 ram 2500 purchase from the dealership within the same week of purchase magically the ABS system failed driving down the highway in the middle of winter time kicking out cruise control and traction control causing me to almost crash on the highway and get hit by a semi Not only have I had the truck for almost 2 years unable to drive it I believe the dealership should never been able to sell me this vehicle with the known problems and what they already failing ABS system making me unaware of the issue Yes and the brake system not working in the truck sitting has caused other failures in the vehicle now a transmission shop told me the ABS failure affecting other parts of the truck caused the transmission brain to not work correctly and my warranty could not fix the transmission is corrected and fixed so I have those problems now that can't be fixed until the ABS systems fixed and there's no parts available still so my warranty is going to expire before the break system can get fixed Before it went out on me there were no lights I purchased it from the dealership so obviously they had cleared out the failure and lights to make the vehicle sale because the ABS light came on during test drive and I was told that was a new feature to remind you to check brake pad for wear and tear

The cruise control on our truck does not work when the Hydraulic Control Unit is not working. It has started having issues this past summer which causes the message to be displayed on our dash with a warning sound. This may cause the ABS and ESC not to work properly, which is very concerning. We had planned to pull our 30 ft travel trailer across the US this winter to the south, but with these issues, we are hesitant to drive the truck a long distance. We are also hoping that the truck will stop correctly this winter since we live in Wisconsin and have snow and ice that we have drive in on a regular basis. This is concerning and we are debating as to whether or not the truck will be safe to drive. We called the manufacturer today about the part to repair the problem and there is not one yet. They said we could have a dealership do a “temporary fix” that we would have to pay for and have reimbursed. It was hard to understand the 2 people we talked to (from the Philippines - had heavy accents), so we don’t know if that “fix” really would work. They also said we could get a truck rental through the dealership, but we have no idea if they would pay for it or not, or how long it will be until there is an actual part produced by the company that will fix the problem. We are hesitant to do that if the cost would be on our shoulders, since it could be substantial. So, we may be without our vehicle this winter. It also looks like we will not be able to take our camper south for the winter this year like we always have done since we retired a few years ago due to this safety issue. This is not acceptable and we would like some answers.

Abs light and traction control light stays on plus keeps popping up to service electric trailers brakes. Electric trailer brakes well not work. Cruise control stopped working. All do to recall. Truck has had this recall for over a year now and I’ll I ever get told by dealerships that the parts are unavailable. Recall 24V-896, cannot be repaired, no repair timeline in site, vehicle is coding and dealership has confirmed code. Driving cruise will turn off and braking system becomes difficult and unstable. Warning systems come one. Dealership attempted to repair but manufacture advised they were not allowed to do so because it would not be permanent. Dealership has advised to park unit and contact Chrysler for buyback. We have called Chrysler customer care daily for 3 weeks with no success and no end in sight. The will not provide daily driver solution, vehicle replacement or repair fix. This is part of our daily driver to and from work and to and from farm to carry trailer with cattle. It is unsafe without proper braking system functioning and dealership has confirmed this and advised us to not operate. Chrysler has also advised us to not operate since it has coded but has offered no options. Dealership confirmed code on or about 8/22/2025

•Side curtain airbag malfunction front driver's side. The truck has a warning light for the airbag and the computer diagnostics says it is a side airbag malfunction. The vehicle is well kept and has not been damaged. Mopar does not lost this malfunction and recall as included in my VIN •Cruise control malfunction The cruise control sporadically does not turn on when the button is pressed. The button may need to be pressed a dozen times before it activates and cruise control is available to be set for a given speed and then engaged. This has occurred since purchase brand new at the original dealership at less than 25 miles on odometer. Mopar does not list this malfunction/recall for my VIN. •Hydraulic Control Unit recall difficulties. The dealership has stated multiple times it has no replacement parts to do the recall repair covered under NHTSA Recall # 24V-896.

Keeps flashing ABS. It sounds a bing noise the whole time I drive it. Since I drive over 2 hours a day it is really frustrating and 5 hours on the weekend. Also, the radio cuts out all the time when the ABS in flashing the air conditioning or heat goes full blast when the ABS in flashing and binging. How can you not have a fix for this yet! We paid about $70,000 for our 2500 ram truck. As we were driving the freeway our ABS warning went off shutting the cruise control…this got to where it happened quite often.. At the time there were no recalls on it so we paid a total of $2,030. We had added a fuel filter change while we had the vehicle there. Once we received the recall letter we filed for a refund. I received an email stating that they would only refund $1656.00 . When I wrote back..’’ may I ask why I am not getting a full refund?’’ I received a very rude email that the payment was final with no other explanation!! I called twice trying to get this resolved to no prevail. I told them that I did not expect them to pay for the fuel filter but that still left $250. Because of my husband being a disabled veteran we received a discount and paid no taxes which saved fca money!!! I want the $250 that is owed to US.

In November 2024 through December 2025 our Ram started experiencing issues with the traction control and ABS lights coming on randomly and the vehicle not braking properly. Braking in corners is very sketchy and feels like you are going to run off the road. As December went on, all brake related lights stayed on and the truck feels like it has manual brakes from the 1970s. We received a Legal Notice explaining there is a class action settlement going on due to the ABS module and Brake HCU on our truck in late December 2024. We did not drive the truck long distances for the latter half of December due to the issues we were experiencing plus receiving the legal notice. A couple weeks into January 2025 we received a notice from FCA US LLC indicating there is a safety recall for the Brake HCU which affects the ABS and ESC systems. The notice said the vehicle may lose control and cause a crash without prior warning. Due to this second notice and the fact that our truck was having more issues with the braking systems and the lights were permanently on, we parked the truck mid January 2025 and have not driven it since. In early March we contacted the local dealership Morie's of Little Fall, MN as well as Chrylser/Mopar asking when our truck can be repaired and explained this is our daily driver and only safe vehicle we have for distances over 30 miles. Neither of them have been helpful and could not give us an answer. The service person at Morie's confirmed our vehicle is a part of the recall and the things we are experiencing would be related. He advised we do not drive the vehicle either. We are now mid April, THREE MONTHS WITHOUT A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE, and we have received no further communication from anyone relating to our truck. It is still parked and unsafe to drive. Action needs to be taken to remedy this situation. We are normally a two vehicle household down to one that can't be driven far and one that can't be driven at all.

On August 10, 2022 the truck was presented to the dealership because the ABS system was failing. This was prior to the recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896. I paid to have the system repaired. A recall was issued AFTER that date. I submitted a claim and was paid for my expenses by FCA. On March 3, 2025 the system notification system flashed warning the the ABS system was failing. I immediately took the truck to Mac Haik dealership and was advised that I could safely drive the truck until the following Monday when I could drop it off for diagnostic testing. The diagnostic testing revealed that the system was failing BUT FCA would not cover the full cost of the repairs. They would require "Customer Participation" payment of $546.00. I refused the repair because the repairs done August 2022, PRIOR to the recall was failing, so that told me that the parts utilized August 2022 were faulty and should be replaced under the terms of the recall and not require "Customer Participation of $546. I need your help to get FCA to replace and repair their faulty manufacturing.

My ABS light keeps coming on intermittently. I been calling mopar since this recall started in 2024 and they are not supplying needed parts to the dealership to fix it. I call mopar and no ETA on the parts. I want this fixed since they said it can cause my truck to wreck with no notice. I have kids in my truck all the time and mad on delay. How are they getting by not fixing this.

I have received an "Important Safety Recall" issued for my vehicle. In the notice, it states that "The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." I have contacted the dealership as well as RAM offices with no answer other than that the part is not available. As a safety issue, this is unacceptable. Please know that legal representation will be sought out.

The ABS brake warning lights are on all the time. I have no cruise control. There are times when I can't even shift my vehicle into gear. I will be checking to see if I even have 4wd with this light on. But, haven't tried it since the lights have been on.

The Anti-Brake system ABS and ESC Electronic Stability Control alert keeps coming on and off on my dashboard. The cruise control will shut off by itself when this alert comes on. The alerts appear randomly and all various speeds. I took this to the dealership in October of 2022 for this issue and they replaced the anti-lock brake controller and bled the brakes. I had to pay $1000 out of pocket cost as my truck was no longer under warranty. The same issue has started occurring again in June of 2024. I changed out the wheel speed sensors at that time thinking perhaps that was causing the issue since I got the repair done in 2022 and I noticed that the issue occurs frequently, especially when I hit a bump in the road. However the issue still occurs and I see that this has been a known issue by Ram for some time and a RECALL for the HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT is due to be mailed out January 9, 2025.

ABS won't stay engaged causing traction control to not stay engaged and causes cruise control to not stay engaged. Skidding and loss of control are possible without ABS and traction control systems working. Loss of cruise control can cause rear impact from sudden slow down. Same problems are occurring in similar vehicles. Console chimes and ABS and traction control indicator lights come on. Message to service ABS system appears on console.

This is 3rd time I have had ABS failed. Truck only has 66,000 miles on it and this has happened for 3rd time. Has been twice repaired by Ram dealer in Denham Springs Louisiana. Evidently parts are defective. I am original owner. First time happened at 24,700 miles. Second time at 48,200 miles. Third time at 66,000 miles. Evidently bad parts.

I am getting a warning saying to service the anti lock brakes and the traction control. I have had this same issue before and paid the dealership to fix it. Also when the warning appears the cruise control shuts off. I am concerned about the loss of control of the vehicle.

Intermittent Electronic Brake System and ABS Failure messages. Been dealing with this issue for over a year now. Dealership told me I had to wait almost a year before there would be a fix and that’s if I’m lucky. The ABS pump motor and the software are both faulty and Ram is aware of how to fix it, and haven’t. As I am driving, (2018 ram 2500 6.7l with 45000 miles) the “service electronic brake system” and “service automatic brake system” will flash on and off intermittently. I took it to the dealership and they stated possibly the HCU. But since the codes flash intermittently and at completely random times they couldn’t say fer sure. But it does have to do with HCU system. I did a quick google search and discovered this is a recurring issue with the 2017-2018 Ram models.

the ABS light will come on while I am driving along with traction control turning off with a ding. While the warning comes on, the cruise control will turn off.
